Going back to a blank canvas. Don't be fooled by the flattering light. There is about an 1 1/2 inches of roots and some pretty gnarly banding underneath these ramen noodles that I call hair. I used provoke colour remover to strip out multiple layers of Adore Purple Rage that had faded to an unflattering dirty blue (New formula - I hate it). Quite happy with the white blonde base I've managed to achieve in the midlengths and ends though. Here's hoping I can even out the roots and achieve a more even warm purple.

Apologies for the poor lighting but it was about 2am and I had a very sleepy other half snoozing in the backround. For anyone wondering how pale a base I managed to get before applying the purple, this is a pic I took after bleaching. It looks deceptively white blonde here because of the flash, but it was still very golden in places. And it's not perfectly even either. I find my hair has fewer red tones than i would expect for the level 2-3 dark brown that I naturally am. It doesnt lift to stark orange colour. It goes to light brown then, kind of a pale peachy salmon colour, before going yellow. Weird. I used Swarzkopf BlondMe Bleach with 20 volume developer and olaplex. I had also faded out the previous purple with a few rounds of anti dandruff shampoo and 1 round of Pro:Voke Extra strength colour remover before bleaching my roots. You might wonder why I bothered if I was just going to stick with purple but my previous purple was applied over a bright violet base which I wanted to strip out. It now has a much truer purple colour and should fade to a warmer pink shade, whereas before with the violet underneath, it would always fade to a very cool blue tone that I didn't love.

I've arrived at the conclusion that frizz = brighter colour. Does that sound crazy? I feel like it initially looks darker when freshly washed with more defined curls. But after about 2 or 3 days it looks brighter as it gets frizzier. I read somewhere that when highlighting curly hair the texture creates more surface area for the light to bounce off and can make it appear brighter. I guess the same is true of allover colour too!

Freshly done roots and wand curls! I finally got around to tackling the 3 inches of regrowth i had (yikes!). The banding was outrageous and i had to bleach twice but my hair seems to have lived to fight another day. I mixed a bit of SFX Joyride into my Purple Rage this time around and it gives it a lovely warm, almost neon pink glow under warm light. I love adore colours but I will definitely be trying more SFX colours now. It's so pretty!

Awww the sunshine went away. But you might still be able to see it. I found the colour was fading very blue so I added a teeny bit of Adore intense red into my conditioner along wit my purple rage, and it's pulling it back to a true purple quite nicely. Winning!

Me with my freshly re-coloured purple curls in slightly overcast daylight, and my firebearded Viking fella. Quite the contrast! ;-)

So I topped up my colour at the weekend! It had been washed about 8 times by that point. It wasnt exactly fading but I was really wanting to maintain a deep, rich colour that's dark in low light and vibrant purple in daylight. It's the perfect balance of bold and professional. I also found that my purple was growing increasingly blue with eachwash because of the vivid African Violet base I had underneath it, so I added a bit of Violet Gem into the mix when I topped it up. VG has a very pink base so it pulled it back to a very true purple. I'm very pleased. This colour is holding up well for me with very little upkeep. Cold water co-washing is a small price to pay. I used 1 part Rich Eggplant to 2 parts 50:50 Purple Rage and Violet Gem (all from Adore), undiluted and left to soak in for 4 hours, followed by Aphogee two-step protein treatment and deep condition. My hair is suffering no ill effects so far from being bleached. Yay!

This colour is utterly glorious in the sunshine. Long live the Great British Summer! This colour was achieved with 1 part Adore Rich Eggplant to two parts Adore Purple Rage, applied over a previously very bold and blueish violet base. This pic is after two cold water co-washes with Tresemmé Botanique conditioner. Very little colour bleed in the cold water during rinsing and no rub off on any clothes, but the colour has definitely brightened ever so slightly in the best possible way. I wouldn't say it's fading as such though.

Soggy purple curls. Washing with cold water sucks but the colour is holding up well. The Tresemmé Botanique Coconut conditioner gives a lovely co-wash!

Perfect selfie light achieved! Outdoors at around 6.30pm in the spring time. Soft sunlight a couple of hours before sunset. I took about a billion photos lol.

Decided to try some curlformers for the first time ever while my hair was blown out. I think I'm a fan! Pooofy curls!
