Usage

For best results, particularly with lighter shades, apply to hair that has been pre-lightened to pale blond. Apply to freshly washed (not conditioned), dry or damp hair. Apply using latex gloves. We recommend using a tinting brush to ensure even coverage. Work the dye into the hair for a few minutes and leave for at least 15 minutes (you may leave this dye on for longer as long as you cover your hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap to prevent it drying out). Rinse with warm water until the water runs clear.

For longer lasting colour, use a shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair.

  • Precautions

Although these dyes do not contain the harsh chemicals of other dyes such as ammonia and peroxide, there is still a small chance that they could cause an allergic reaction. For this reason it is imperative that you do a strand and sensitivity test before using them. An ingredients list is available above and can also be found on the product’s packaging (ingredients list can sometimes be found under our sticker). NEVER use any of these products on eyelashes or eyebrows.

As you would expect from a dye these colours can stain textiles, ceramic, wood and other surfaces as well as temporarily stain skin and nails so be careful to cover surfaces and wear gloves when applying the colour. Once used these products may also rub off your hair and skin and onto clothing and bedding. Although this usually disappears after washing it’s worth bearing this in mind. Staining to bathtubs, basins and showers can easily be cleaned using a bleach based cleaning product.

    Do not mix with peroxide.

Colours may cause permanent staining to bleached or chemically treated hair. Tip: You can avoid staining on your skin by applying a layer of vaseline anywhere on your skin where dye may come in contact.

Reviews of Special Effects Sonic Green

  • I absolutely love this color. I've used it several times on bleached hair. It comes out very close to the swatch. It always reminds me of a mermaid! The only thing I'm not a big fan of is when it fades out, it fades to more of a gray but overall I'm very pleased with this color!
  • Awesome deep green. It's my first unnatural dye, and it was a bit too bright for my liking when I first applied it (some two months ago), but when I touched up the colour after three weeks it was PERFECT. The only thing that really made it fade was spending a whole day in the sunlight, which turned it a greyish-yellow, metallic green. If you want a beautiful green that will look good for ages, Sonic Green a good choice.
  • Omg! i absolutly love this color! This was the first time i tryed special effects and i'm not going to usse any other brand fom now on. This color stays really well and looked more tuqoise than i expected but absolutly still mostly green. I love how it makes the hairs allmost "sparkle" and it blends in with other color really well, so there are not any harsh contrasts. However it did fade after abaout a month to an fugly washed out light green color in my hair ends but by then it was time for a touch up on the roots anyway (and my ends are kind of pourous anyway). And my ends swallowed so much color so they turned out black but i got a lot of compliments on it (some said it looked like a peacok and others said it looked like a ravens feathers. I think this color and enchanted forest (manic panic) are very similar but this one lasts longer and it's over all prettier in my appinion (one of my friendds had enchanted forest so i know how it turnes out and lasts). Bottom line: Awsome!!
  • NOBODY should ever use this hair dye. I have used it multiple times on bleached hair and it NEVER turns out the slightest bit green. It's always electric blue, and the color lasts FOREVER so it doesn't fade to green either. It's not teal or even turquoise. ELECTRIC. BLUE. I am very upset with this dye. It's the crappiest I have ever dyed my hair. Splat was better than this! Take my advice, and don't buy this ripoff.
  • This color was what i exactly expected! It was so pretty. This was the first time i have EVER used special effects. After the disappointing manic panic experience i had put in more research into this hair dye color. After i got home from school i dyed this on un-bleached dark brown hair. Not to mention that i have very long thick hair and i didn't use all of the bottle. It turned out so pretty and perfect! I got many compliments on the color and i hope to try out other colors from this brand. The color turned out perfect and i recommend this to anyone who wants a deep dark green!! c:
  • I love this color. It's a beautiful deep forest green with blue undertones. I used it, diluted, over a gingery-golden base and it covered beautifully. It was more green on my hair, probably because of my starting color, but still very beautiful.
  • An amazing colour, with tones of blues and greens depending on how well you've lightened your hair but still all works together. Looks amazing once mixed with the deep purple as it turns a really cool blue colour. Doesn't fade to any other colour than green.
  • love this stuff! it definitely has a lot of blue tones and it has lasted so long. I dyed it 6 weeks ago and it still looks fantastic. I left it on my hair for about two and a half hours and it still runs in the shower but it still looks very vibrant.
  • This colour worked really well for me, apart from the fact that it's hard to shift. The colour remained a teal green for quite some time. But it did stain my cuticle, which was annoying as I was dying yellow next and it still shows. So I don't know how keen I would be to use it again...
