A fantastic bright violet shade on pale blonde hair, Ultra Violet is unique. It’s notoriously difficult to photograph, often looking blue in pictures and you’ll find that the colour tends to shift depending on whether you’re standing in natural or artificial light; it’s like having 2 colours at once!

This is a truly beautiful lustrous violet purple that must be applied to very pale blonde hair to see its true colour. Avoid bleaching this colour out as it’s been known to go green when oxidised.

For best results apply to hair that has been pre-lightened to pale blonde. Do not mix with peroxide.

Shampoo hair using a deep cleansing shampoo. Apply to freshly washed, dry hair. Apply evenly using a tint brush and comb through until frothy. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and leave for 30 minutes. You can apply heat to intensify the process.

Rinse with cold water, away from your face.

Reviews of Manic Panic Ultra Violet

  • I had trouble with this color, turning grey and all, but my friend used it frequenelty and she loved it, though even on her it turned grey right after she colored her hair with it.
  • This color sits on the borderline of purple and blue; on bleached hair it is a very intense shade. It mixes incredibly well with other colors, even of a different brand. However, it fades to grey fairly quickly, so it's important to dye often, as the color is a bit unstable.
  • The color was really pretty, but it faded pretty quickly. On the bright side, it faded to a very light color so I was able to re-dye to a different color without having to bleach it out.
  • I really likd this color in combination with purple haze. Though it's true it does fade a bit weird.
  • I love this color in my hair, but unlike what I hear from most people, Manic Panic clings to my hair for a while. I had it in for almost two months before I bleached it out! And some strands did fade to grey, maybe I'm weird but I liked the grey.
  • My only complaint with this color is it often looks more blue than purple. But It does mix well with other clorors. When paired or mixed with pink the purple definitly comes out more.
  • On bleached-orange hair it turns a very dark shade of blue and grey. When I used it again on my light blonde bangs it turned a washed out blue color >.<
  • I loved this, other than it faded to gray :l
  • I had this color over a less than desired base and it faded a weird grey color but over my white hair, (platinum base) it fades a very beautiful lavender. I also use this color in conditioner to make my toner and it works great!
  • It is a nice shade in very bleached hair, but it does not take in anything darker than a brassy blonde, in my case, the roots where okay but, it didn't show up really well in the rest of the hair that was a little more copper, also it faded quickly. I expected more from the famous Manic Panic...
  • One of my favourite MP dyes. Appears very grapey, berry toned purple in warm lights and appears ultraviolet and bluish in bright and natural lights. Lasts pretty well and fades to just like a light purpley-grey colour, which looks cool in its own right.
  • I mixed this with some Purple Haze and applied it to freshly bleached hair. It was a really nice deep blue-purple (almost exactly like the swatch) the first day. But within the next 3 days WITHOUT showering it started to fade. It ended up looking silver in some spots and kinda pink in others (leftover from the red I couldn't bleach out). It still looked decent but I was really hoping it would stay looking as vibrant as when I first dyed it at least until I shampooed. I usually love Manic Panic but this was a bit disappointing.
  • My biggest problem with Ultra Violet is that it often looks way more blue then purple. I mix it in with Pimpin' Purple (Special Effects) to create a blue tinge otherwise it's not really to my liking, I generally prefer warmer purples. Manic Panic has very little leaking/bleeding which is great but it also seems to fade quickly, whether that is caused by my medication induced sweating or if it's just the dye I don't know.
  • I have found that Ultra Violet, when mixed with the right amount of thick, plain white conditioner, makes a more effective white toner than Virgin Snow--it's more cost-effective, too. But, of course, this is just my experience.
  • The color was gorgeous, but be warned that it does have a very intense blue tint in artificial lighting. I love that it changes from blue to purple in different lighting, but if that's not your thing, I would really recommend a more pinky purple. It fades nicely, but also extremely quickly. It looks perfect upon application, but it doesn't take long to fade to a pale lavender.
  • I've had good luck with pretty much all dyes I've tried, including other Manic Panic ones, but this one does not want to stay in my hair. All other dyes I've tried, regardless of brand they stay for about 1½-2 months before I need to touch them up because roots happen, sometimes they fade 3-4 shades lighter but that is all. This one looks fantastic for about a week and a half, then it is grey :( It lasts a tiny bit longer if I mix it with another dye, but not by much. It's a shame because it is a wonderful colour.
  • This color is so classic manic panic. Gorgeous shade I adore but it lasts for a about a wash or two before fading out. It's great if you want a pretty blueish purple shade that will wash out quickly.
