Manic Panic Shocking Blue Photos
Manic Panic Shocking Blue
A wonderfully saturated bright blue from Manic Panic. Shocking Blue is a rich and vibrant true blue colour with no strong green or violet tones, providing a nice fade out when applied to pale blonde hair.
- For bleached or pre-lightened pale blonde hair
- Suitable for vegans
After a haircut and bleaching the roots, I was left with a lot of blah green and peachy reddish-pink. (Everything on my head that wasn't red turned green. So weird.) I have been craving orange for a few weeks. I've also been craving sunset hair, but knew that with all that green it wasn't happening this time. So, I decided to try a sort of rainbow, after doing some strand tests. I had Shocking Blue sitting in my dye cabinet for months, decided to whip it out now and see if it would cover the green. It did. I also wanted to see if I could make a burgundy-berry-merlot sort of color by combining Vampire Red with a little Shocking Blue. It worked amazingly well and also covered the green. The big test was the orange that I desperately wanted. I wasn't sure if there was any way I could cover green with orange unless it was a really strong orange. Hmmmm... I had Adore Paprika. I had already been thinking about using it diluted and mixed with Cantaloupe, after reading a review of SFX Hot Lava that sounded almost exactly like Adore Paprika, and after seeing @Sinnie's amazing orange using diluted Hot Lava. I thought, what if I use Paprika diluted just a tiny bit? I stuck to trying it with only the lightest green parts, and lo and behold, it worked! I mean, it also looked a little brownish in spots, but overall you really can't tell. The Paprika and Cantaloupe mixture easily covered the perfectly bleached parts, as well as the peachy reddish pink parts. Oh, and I kept a few tiny slices of green and covered them with Cantaloupe alone so I could get a few glints of yellow and lime green. (You'll see that in other photo angles.)
I feel like a cartoon character. Mostly half a bottle of Blue Mayhem mixed with a tsp of the other blue and purples. The blue was done over a light apricot base color (remnants of removing permanent black), so hopefully it doesn't fade to a yucky color. In any case, I'll do a bleach bath in another month to try and lighten it past an orange-y base. Eyebrows are green eyeshadow.
This is my hair now. After 5 agressive washes. (washing several times). A lot of conditioner mixed with a lot of Shocking Blue and a bunch of Shocking Pink. Mixed looking like a dark warm purple. Still, the previous Alpine Green is peaking through aaargh. I think this is my favorite hair color so far :D Though I didn't like how it was freshly dyed (it was much darker).
