What should I know about bowlcuts/90s era haircuts?Posted 6 days, 16 hours ago
So, I'm planning to get a haircut similar to Takeshi Kaneshiro in Chungking Express. I have straight thick hair (type 1b to be exact) and I've never had anything like that. I normally had spiky haircuts with short bangs above the eyebrows. What should I know about styling and taking care of that type of haircut? Is it diverse in terms of hairstyles or limited? Does it look good with an oval face?

That type of style is relatively low-maintenance until it gets too long and then you start getting extra volume on the sides and the fringe starts getting a bit in your eyes. Otherwise, styling is straightforward, just comb it and add some putty/paste/gel to style as you like. My natural hair is the same texture and I find that when it's not bleached, I can't expect too much hold from styling products. It's mostly achieved by blow-drying it into shape and/or just letting the weight of my hair do the work. You can typically comb it a few different styles, but they won't look drastically different unless you really want to put in some effort with hairspray.
