I think it wouldn't necessarily even take 2 months, depending on how you fade. I get bored quickly/decide to get a "real" job for a while and have to strip all the fun colors out fast, so I have a lot of experience with variants on the shampoo/bleach powder/oils method. It works extremely well and it's never damaged my hair, only dried it out a lot---I counteract that with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner Moist. I know you're trying to add moisture but if you get to a point in the fade where you're having trouble dealing with it, speeding up the fade and/or evening it out a bit might help.
For sulfate-free shampoo, I use OGX nourishing coconut. I like the brand and the scent, it's pretty good for moisture and I think there's some protein too but not an overwhelming amount. I've heard complaints that it's a bit heavy for some, but I've processed my hair to death and back, so I need all the moisture and protein I can get into it. Their other shampoos are pretty good too.

@Zombii "to death and back" hahaha. Thanks a lot! Yeah, I hate fading. I ordered that Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, per recommendation of a friend, so I'm glad you mention it! I'm in no rush for this one cause I want it for my birthday in Sept so I thought I'd give it a 2 months break. Although I'll see how it looks when fading. Going to start getting the things I need. Thanks a lot!
Yeah, no problem. I'm sure the neon rainbow will be gorgeous on you. Good luck. :)
One quick, hopefully, last question has anyone tried Arctic Fox? I'm willing to safrifice my neon/uv reactive idea if Arctic Fox lasts longer. They do have a Yellow UV reactive dye, so that'll have to do.
@Zombii or the other ladies still around... ?
I haven't tried Arctic Fox. I've wanted to (especially Transylvania) but I feel too guilty about my preparing-for-the-zombie-apocalypse level hoarder drawer of Manic Panic and Ion to justify buying more colors to try. ;( Yellow is usually a very sticky color though, so I'd think you'd be good to go there.
I did see Arctic Fox fades really pretty and read it doesn't bleed as much. I'm looking into something that lasts long since rainbow would be tricky to retouch, I'd like it to last some before I have to go in again.
Oh, the dilemma...
I tried a rainbow effect with Arctic Fox about two months ago and it was ok. I think the problem was that my stylist used some of a different brand (not sure which one) because I didn't have quite enough colors. Some of the colors didn't blend well together so I ended up with 70% red/pink 20% purple 5% blue 5% yellow. It's totally faded out at this point except for Wrath which has stayed a nice pink shade.
All that to say, I think it was a styling issue. I don't think it was the brand. As far as fading, I have a major issue with Poseidon because it fades out very quickly, but Aquamarine has a lot more longevity. I use Transylvania on the top of my hair and do "peekaboo" color. The blue base on Transylvania helps the peekaboo aqua last longer.
I found these, from a YouTuber's IG account.
These were Arctic Fox with conditioner, mostly, and mixed among themselves, too. A month of fading, it said. It'll be a lot of trouble for a quick fading, haha. But, oh, well... we do love the challenge.
@VeroJade , do you have pictures?
Unfortunately no. My stylist took some but never sent them to me. I'll ask if she still has them. If yes, I'll upload it.
