Hey so I wanted to strip the color from my hair. Right now it’s black and I used the Feria black dye. Last year I also used the rose gold sorta dye but between these two I’ve also done two other colors that were normal box dyes.
So I was looking at strippers but then I realized they’re not recommended to use with things like metallics. And I know bad on my part I shouldn’t have used to metallic dyes but I wasn’t thinking when I bought and used them.
I always like to do my hair myself but I’m guessing I’m going to have to end up going to a professional to fix it? I was hoping to go orange but from what I’ve read these dyes are terrible to get out, and I definitely don’t want to risk anything using something like color oops.
Any experience or recommendations?
which were the metallic dyes? are you certain thats what they were? you could do a strand test with color oops and see but honestly 90 percent of pros don't know what to do with those dyes either, you can't bleach them or remove them from the hair, but the color oops might remove the black you have now and leave you with and orange base anyway, strand test, but trust me pros don't have a good solution for metalic dyes either and most won't work on you if they know you have them
I guess I could try a strand test. I was really hoping to go orange haha wish I had know before I used the feria
You really need to spend some time stripping it before bleaching. From what I've seen most professionals usually tend to go straight to bleaching everything out. It's rare to find one that will take the proper tome to strip it. You should use a color remover, or if you are uncomfortable doing that buy yourself cheap clarifying shampoo. I shampoo my hair twice each shower w the clarifying shampoo, then condition to help w dryness. Also once or twice a week I mix Dawn dish soap and baking soda and apply that to damp hair and let it sit for as long as I can...which for me is usually 45 min at best. Then I rinse and wash as normal. Hot hot water all the time. Be sure to use lots of oils in between to keep your hair healthy. I do this every week til I think most of it's out of my hair. From there check out Katie's fading treatment and do that a couple times if necessary before bleaching. If you make a plan and stick to it you can get all that color out yourself and you're prolly better off....but it will take weeks. The hair you want takes the hair you don't want for a while sometimes. Patience is key.
