I am really tired as hell of this black hair and I'm wanting to return to the magical world of fashion colors. I am hoping to get a traffic cone orange look, but of course I am a level one (great idea). I have been dying it for about a year with a wella color and occasional box dye. I am planning on color removing once, twice if need be, then doing a bleach bath and leaving it alone for a few days. Then I will plan on bleaching all over, I splurged and got some olaplex, toning and then finishing it off with an orange dye- napalm by special effects. I am by no means trying to get all the way to a level 10 overnight, and I think would be fine with a 6-7. Do you guys have any experience with this or any helpful tips? I am quite comfortable bleaching and I have very strong and healthy hair that has been through much worse and survived just fine. However, bleaching is of course always a bit dodgy. I realize the orange in the picture is over a white blonde and I will not be getting that immediately but that's the color and the longterm goal.
Any tips with olaplex? Have you used it before?
How well do you think color remover will work on black hair?
Any overall tips for helping me attempt the impossible?
your plan sounds perfect! color remover tends to get black hair to ginger, one and only color fix is a favorite of mine, and then from there a light bleach bath should get your to orangy blonde then strand test napalm but with the orange base already your right you don't need it super light to get a vibrant result
Wow! That shade of orange looks really good. Hope you are successful in changing your hair color and post some pics! Good luck!
Bleach washing my natural dark hair can get it coppery and brassy, so if that's the orange you want, it can be done. Though it will definitely be brighter on yellow bleached hair.
Omg that colour will be amazing. I love that the dye is called napalm! Lol. Sounds to me like you have planned it all out really well! Olaplex will definitely help you hair to cope with the lifting seeing as you're starting off pretty dark. I always use it and I find that it doesn't repair damage as such, but will help minimise the effects/symptoms of it. It really helps my hair bounce back after bleaching. I've heard that Sally's has an Olaplex type product which is a lot cheaper. That might be worth checking out.
Always be yourself. Unless you can be a Powerpuff Girl. Then always be a Powerpuff Girl. Or a Mermaid. Or a Unicorn. Or a Khaleesi...
Since you mostly used Wella dyes, you shouldn't have a lot of trouble taking that out. When you used box dyes, did you at any point ever use Nice'n'Easy Natural Black? That one's a real mother, but it can be removed over time with some patience. Your plan sounds solid. Orange is pretty easy to get to from where you are. Good luck. :)
