Blue hair, purple roots!by cazzybeePosted 8 years, 10 months ago
So I dyed my hair with SFX blue velvet and it looked great. One problem, on my mid lengths and ends its this perfect true dark blue thats fading green (in real life it looks like petrol and I love it), However my roots have come out a purpley blue. (My roots bleached up to white by accident instead of yellow like the rest of my hair. I thought it would be ok if I left the dye on my roots longer than the rest of it making them go darker, apparently not.)
Any ideas how I can make my roots a closer match to the rest without bleaching them again, I'm thinking of mixing SFX blue velvet with SFX Sonic green and putting that on them hoping it'll counteract the purple.

you could fade the purple in with a little bit of diluted pink next to the roots or you could put a little green on your roots, just make sure to dilute it down with conditioner so it doesn't overwhelm the colour and go green.
another option is ebony by directions (i only say this because i know it better than other brands) where the black is very green toned and would darken the roots too. maybe dilute it down a bit or only keep it on for 10 minutes, ebony fades to a petrol blue/greeny shade, so, that's an option

Ooh I hadn't thought about putting a black on and fading it, thanks. I do like the idea of putting the green on though, I'm a bit nervous about going so dark again, it was a very long process to lighten my hair to get the blue on in the first place (8 hours in the hairdressers lol) If I put diluted green straight on purple roots do I run the risk of it going a muddy browny colour?

I like the purple tones, personal favorite. Let us know what you decide. Id be careful with the green on purple. I'm still new with mixing and fixing my hair experiments so no helpful advice here. Sorry
My name is Kim and I'm in love with these crazy colors.
