    Going Lighter and how soon.

Hey all, glad to have found this site. I have dyed/bleached my hair off and on many times since i was 16(53 now). Had my hair all sorts of colors, and not on purpose mostly lol. I have recently used a medium ash brown box dye, that was what i thought, semi-permanent, but it was permanent. It said to leave on for 20 minutes. Now, my hair has always taken color extremely fast, so I stopped at 6 minutes. Glad that i did as it was already a Dark Brown bordering on black. I waited a little over 2 weeks, then bought the trusty Frost and Tip bleach kit I have always used many times before. I don't think i let it stay long enough though, as i now have pale auburn/red highlights. I detest my hair being any shade of red so It's a little stressing for me. To get to my point, It has been a week since i did the frost and tip, keep in mind that my hair is still in really good condition, not dry or brittle, and I condition twice a week anyway. But, can i go ahead and frost again, to get the lighter color already? Normally I would just do it, as I have in the past and I have always gotten the white blonde highlights I wanted. But when asking online for information, everything says NO, or Go to a stylist. Which is fine, but i am NOT paying $200-$300 for them to do it. So i guess my question is, since the hair is in good condition, and it's been a week since i did the first frost, should it be okay to do it a final time to get the light color i want?

I would have to agree the answer would be no after only a week. A minimum suggested wait between bleaching would be two weeks. Hair could be bleached twice on the same day, but this is not advisable. Because greater chance for damage. Usual wait between, if full head bleach, for instance is four weeks. Since indicated highlights, then suggest wait one more week for two weeks total. This is your hair and your choice.

Agree probably did not leave the bleach on long enough. Though we do not know the volume of bleach that was used. Most colleagues here have debated and concluded bleach is effective for 60 minutes. Based on decades of non-professional experience, I found bleach to be effective to 90 minutes. So somewhere between 60 to 90 minutes bleach is effective.

These are my suggestions and humble opinions.
