Strange vitamin C treatment result?Posted 1 week, 6 days ago
Hello! Last November I did a few rounds of vitamin C treatments to help get rid of some faded blue and green that had been sticking in my hair. I used crushed up vitamin C tablets, anti-dandruff shampoo, and dish soap (it's terrible but I was desperate, and I did a lot of conditioning treatments after). The blue and green portions of my hair maybe faded a bit, but I noticed a few days later that my completely untouched/natural blonde hair that had grown in about 4+ inches had suddenly become slightly orange. It's subtle - looks pretty natural (dark blonde-ish strawberry blond-ish). None of the products I used were on that side of the color spectrum - the pills were white and the shampoo/soap were blue.
Has anyone heard of this happening before? Does anyone know why this happened? Did the vitamin C stick in my hair and oxidize? Is there anything I can do to get rid of it, if it is a result of some sort of buildup? My only concern is that I was planning on dying that portion of my hair orange this March. My hair is light enough that I don't ever bleach it and I get good results with bright dyes, so I would assume orange dye will apply over that "orange" area just fine, but I'm worried that portion of my hair has been messed up enough that the orange dye will REALLY stick and not budge, which I can't have (I have some events in the next year that I need natural color for and my hair won't be long enough to cut). Any advice? Thanks!
