To fade or not to fade? Pink/purple over blue/greenby boopsPosted 5 days, 16 hours ago
Hi everyone !
I have a mix of red faded into pink, and purple faded into blue with some greenish Shades, and want to dye it pink and purple (roots and strands with either color, I dont know yet)
I searched through the forum on this topic and found two different opinions : - fade or bleach it and here you go - dont fade or bleach the purple/blue/greenish because it will lead to yellow tones that wont fit the purple and turn muddy
Sooooo I dunno what to do then ?
Initially I wanted to go pink at the roots and purple on the rest of hair (where its greenish) Will it do? Where should I put the pink and purple on these faded colors for best results ? (PS: I will not bleach my roots and keep my scalp safe from harm haha!)
You'll see pictures of my hair and products I wanna use are Arctic Fox purple rain and Virgin pink - https://arcticfoxhaircolor.com/products/purple-rain - https://arcticfoxhaircolor.com/products/virgin-pink (I wanna go purple and pink, dont matter the Shade), btw I have other products in case of...
Thank you in advance !!

You're probably get pretty close to your goal is you just threw pink over everything you have now. The only issue is the darker purple sections in the first photo, because, because I'm not sure if the pink will cover that. It'd probably just go more plum/burgundy. I'd probably still fade down with non-damaging techniques (like shampoo soaking, vitamin c, hot oil treatments, etc.) rather than bleach, but you're pretty close as it is. Personally, I find Arctic Fox's colours very weak, and Virgin Pink is a very soft colour with so-so coverage. Purple Rain is okay, though it's not quite on the same level as other brands. For the purple, I'd pick something that fades down to pink (which I think Purple Rain does), because otherwise, it may go a bit too blue over your ends. Like I said, I think even a straight magenta pink would work fine there. Just strand test first to make sure you like the tone.

Ok thanks ! Maybe I'll mix purple and pink to strenghten the pink on blue sections or something like that, or maybe strenghten it more with other brands I have I didnt know Arctic Fox color were weak as you put it, I guess I was seduced by the non cruelty chart and the smell of the product lol Thank you again

Definitely use what works best for you. I personally like very pigmented dyes, because I can dilute them with conditioner to stretch them further, but some people prefer faster fading so they can change things up more often. I like Punky quite a lot and they also don't test on animals. Any European-manufactured brand will also not test on animals, as there was an EU regulation banning it a while ago.
