IM WANTING TO DYE MY HAIR PURPLE, BUT MY HAIR IS A FADED ORANGE. AND IM SURE A FEW OF YOU MAY HAVE DONE SO. AND IM HOPING YOU GUYS WERER ABLE TO SNAP SOME PICTURES BEFORE. I CANT REALLY FIND MANY BEFORE AND AFTERS SHOTS :( SO IM HOPING SOME OF YOU CAN HELP ME.
AND WAS HOPING SOME OF YOU WOULD MAYBE SHARE PICTURES OF YOUR HAIR PRIOR TO DYING PURPLE, MAYBE TO GET AN IDEA OF HOW LIGHT MY HAIR SHOULD BE FOR A DARK PURPLE (PLUM) THE PICTURE IVE PROVIDED IS HOW LIGHT I HAVE IT NOW. AND IN A FEW WASHES ITLL GET A TAD BIT LIGHTER. PLEASE AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE :) <3

I don't have a lot of specific before and after photos of purple, but I've done it quite a few times now. I think the lighter portions up top might be okay, but the purple will be more plummy and burgundy. The darker pieces at the bottom will probably pull the purple to more of a brown though. Overall, I'd try to fade it down another couple of shades until the orange is more of a peachy or golden yellow tone.
In general, if you have the dye on hand, a strand test will be the best way to tell if you've faded enough.

Thank you, I was planning on darkening the bottom portion of my hair with a demi black or semi black :/ . . (kind of always been scared to use a permanent black haha) .. since I am shooting for a darker purple. I've done this when I had it a forest green and I liked not having to bleach my whole hair and only the crown area every 2 to 3 months ( I've put a picture up cant really see the black at the bottom lol) but yes I will definitely strand test the purple. Thank you <3
