bue stained hairPosted 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Hi everybody, I think i need urgent help. I started bleaching my hair last year, went from a natural level 4-5 to a nice level 8 strawberry-blonde, after that, i got to a level 9 ash blonde. I tried magenta hair, red hair, half and half hair and everything went smoothly. I chopped off big chunks of hair because it was damaged but it always looked good and i got many compliments. I even tried platinum blonde a few months ago and it was awesome. After that i did pastel pink, silver and ended up with my worst nightmare:
It has been on my head for 2 months and yesterday i decided to remove it and go back to a strawberry blonde. BIG MISTAKE. ive tried ION COLOR REMOVER, head and shoulders, vitamin c and shampoo, baking soda and dish soap... i even did a bleach bath!! nothing. its blue as hell. Ive managed to fade it quite a lot honestly, but im scared my cuticule is stained and i wont be able to experiment any more.
does anyone have ANY tips on how to fade it ? color correct it? what to do next? im lost...

I read this article and you are talking to the choir. From my non-professional experience with ION and especially ION Sky Blue, I will not touch ION ever again with a ten foot tint brush.
A bleach bath used on ION dyed hair has the same effect as if you hit the hair with a wet noodle. For at least a week suggest get the hair in very good shape. Like Sylvester Stallone did in making the Rocky movies. This as you know will be a fight. Also strongly suggest for a week if and when wash the hair let the hair air dry. Air drying the hair gives time for the hair to reabsorb moisture to the scalp and hair. When hair is bleached the moisture is removed from the hair. The hair now needs as much moisture as possible, also because of all the attempts at color fading that was done.
After a week or better two weeks of babying the hair, then suggest applying bleach only to the areas that are blue. Be very careful not to overlap and accidentally apply the bleach to the gold blonde roots. I humbly suggest some kind of good gloves, because am suggesting using 30 volume bleach again only on the areas of the hair that are blue. Never place 30 volume bleach on or even near the scalp. Again it is good there are two inches of gold n blonde hair away from the scalp. If you have a friend, then please ask for their help. More eyes are better to get the areas of hair you might be unable to reach. n Also suggest draping an old towel over the shoulders before applying any bleach to keep the bleach off of clothing.
Now to share a horror story, and sadly is true. I used ION Sky Blue and diluted it a lot with conditioner. The mixture of ION Sky Blue and conditioner was the color of a very light blue. This very light blue mixture was like the very light blue hair in the second picture. I applied the mixture to all of my hair for five minutes. Then rinsed my bangs to check on the progress. After five minutes my hair was a medium blue darker than the blue in the first picture. I rinsed the very light blue mixture out of all of my hair. My hair was 85% medium blue and 15% dark blue. Now the real horror of this story, I applied a 30 volume bleach on the medium blue hair from ION for 45 minutes. Then rinsed out the bleach. Then applied a second application of 30 volume bleach again for 45 minutes and rinsed out all the bleach. The result after two 30 volume bleach applications was my hair turned from a medium blue to a very light green.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck removing ION.
These are my suggestions and humble opinion with over 30 years of non-professional experience.
Since you have two inches of gold roots this works to your advantage. This is a good thing.

thanks so much for the reply! ion is my worst nightmare.
im taking care of my hair, using olaplex 3 because it was extremely dried from the color removing attempts. im only washing after a hair mask and im being very patient, i toned my roots so that i can live in peace while i wait for the hair to be resistant enough to do something else... ill keep the post updated
