When can I bleach my hair again after frying it?

When can I bleach my hair again after frying it?

    Hi everyone!

So, I (stupidly) dyed my hair black with box dye in late june and tried removing it in december. On the second bleach bath (with vol. 30 developer, oof), the ends melted and I chopped it off. I went over the brassy mess with blue just so it looked less ugly and started treating it with coconut oil and protein masks, and it's way better now, but I really wanted to go lighter eventually. Do you guys think it's too son to bleach it again? I'm around level 7-8 under the blue and would love to get to 10.

Protein masks or protein treatments dry the hair and take away moisture from the hair. Suggest if and when washing the hair let the hair air dry or pat dry the hair with a towel. Suggest three to four weeks between applications of bleach to the hair.

These are my suggestions and opinion.

Hi, the question is what is your hir history, in terms of dying with permanent hairdyes, bleaching, perming. one cannot do more than a certain rounds without over processing and melting the hair. For normal leaching, you should be able to bleach twice without problem, the third bleaching is the danger zone. sometimes your hair is dark because of dyes, but on fact, it was previously bleached underneath, making it in fact quite fragile. This also depends on hair natural texture, some hair is stronger than other. So if your second bleach bath fried your hair, this suggest your hair was probably bleached underneath. I'm also afraid going from black box dye to 10 is not very realistic in the short term; you need the hair to grow out, and not to dye with anything which could stick to the hair.

A strand test is usually a good idea to evaluate what your hair can stand in terms of additional bleaching, as well as potential results. Using bond builders can somewhat help reduce damage, but it's not a miracle either. I also recommend staying away from high developers, which are quite harsh on the hair, and don't lighten any further.

I agree with what's been said and just wanted to add that hair doesn't heal over time. While products can make it look and feel better, they don't repair the underlying protein structure which is what gets damaged when you bleach your hair. Even Olaplex and similar products, which re-links the broken bonds caused by lightening doesn't restore the original strength of your hair. That's because the bonds they form are much weaker than the ones that were broken. It can help with a smoother look, but it's not strong enough to help your hair withstand an extra bleach process.

Unfortunately, I'd agree that the best solution would be to wait for your hair to grow out if you're hoping for a level 10 look. Black permanent dye tends to stain, and it's very common for those stains to be stubborn enough that your hair will break off before you can get enough lightening. Also, I'm not sure if you did this the first time, but when removing permanent dye, it's best to start with a colour remover like Color Oops or Colour B4, because it does less permanent damage compared to bleach. It doesn't usually get everything out and if you're aiming for a very light base, it doesn't guarantee success, but it's best to try the least damaging methods first.
