Will virgin white hair pick up color? My mids to ends are a 9 to 10 from bleaching and dyeing for years. I just wanna use some fun colors that will actually fade or wash out often. Bout to cut it all down to virgin color... bit rather not. The virgin white is blue and purple from color depositing conditions but not the ends. Nope never the ends. Grr..

    • Yuck. I know I need a cut.

Generally, virgin hair won't pick up colour very well from dyes, especially if it's grey/white. However, you might have a better chance if you're able to get a tint with coloured conditioners now. Try leaving the dye on clean, dry hair for at least an hour. You'll probably want to stick to pastels if you want things that fade down, but those might have a hard time with your roots. You can help that with a developer soak (10 volume), but that can be drying and damaging over time if you keep doing it over the same areas.

Thank you. The yellow ends are the real trouble. When I use color depositing shampoo or conditioner the ends always have yellow hue. Violet usually but something pink or platinum. I just booked a hair cut lol The year long battle is over, finally. I had spo much purple on virgin hair I recently started a weekly vinegar soak tp remove it. It's working. Little fade each time. I'll follow up after cutting the yellow off with pics. Excited to try to rose gold. Of that's a gal im going pink.

Just wanna say though, your natural color is goals! I hope mine looks like that if I go grey.
