Green to brown or auburn or anything more neutralby GreendreamPosted 1 week ago
Hoping to get a little advice. I'll try to be brief!
Hair was a mix of Directions Turquoise and Alpine green. Managed to lighten significantly with Vitamin C treatments over the course of a month. I cut my hair and used some to do a patch test of Directions Flame which look good and covered well. So I dyed my whole head and all seemed fine. However I washed my hair once or twice and the green came back through, making an almost olive muddy colour.
I've got an interview coming up and need something a little more professional/natural looking. I have the following products to hand and I'm wondering if any would help or if I'd be better off buying something else entirely.
- Directions Flame
- Directions Ebony
- Garnier semi permanent casting creme gloss in Chocolate Truffle
- L'Oréal Effasor sachet
- Adore Rich Amber
- Adore Mahogany
Any suggestions please? I wondered if mixing the flame with a small bit of ebony would work for now?

Suggest mix the Ebony with a small bit of flame and use the mixture, since the goal is to cover up the green. Always suggest a strand test on a small section of hair first before applying anything all over the hair.

I'd probably just do a fresh coat of Flame for now or mix in some of the Adore dyes if you want to darken it a tad. Ebony actually fades out green over time, so it might worsen the issue.

I did wonder if ebony would make it worse in the long run. I've opted to mix the two adore colours I had as they both look more red/pinky whereas flame is more orange.
I've just put it on and will leave for a while and hope for the best! It is my first time with Adore dye, a little more runny than I'd have liked but fingers it'll cover ok.
Thanks for the replies.

I did not think of the fade of Ebony until now. Ebony for myself on white hair faded to blue. Reading the posts also suggest Adore if you can get this brand. Adore has many good dark shades of natural hair colors in a semi-permanent. This is my opinion.
