ginger, dye, rootsPosted 7 months ago
hi guys, i have been bored in lock down and i was a dirty blonde/ light brown with blonde tips - natural. So i bought clariol natural instincts in a shade lighter than mine and dyed it. It went ginger. I was panicked and used the baking soda thing it faded it out a bit. I’m currently using blue shampoo and it seems to be working but i want to get back to my virgin colour. The roots have grown out a bit and I cant stand it. Salons are closed so when they open what do I ask for and what should I do in the meantime?

When you go lighter, your hair will generally get warmer, as the brown pigments in your hair bleach more easily than the red pigments. Blue shampoo will help cancel it out a bit, but won't be able to fully cool it down to its original state.
If you're going to a salon to fix things, just let your roots grow out and ask them to match it as best they can. Otherwise, you could try to match them yourself, though it'd require some experimentation with strand tests and possibly mixing dyes. The difference isn't super stark in the second photo, so I'd let it be for now.
