Purple disaster - PLEASE HELPPosted 1 week, 4 days ago
Okay so I had a very faded red in my hair before this - it had been there since the beginning of the year and I got bored.
I bleached my hair twice, resulting in a pretty even level 8. I used crazy colour violette (doing a strand test first, which turned out lovely) so I did my whole head and this happened...
My hair NEVER messes up I’m usually so careful Do you think it’s possible for me to throw a super pinky purple straight over this?? Would it work??? ?

I looks like you didn't have enough dye and didn't get enough absorption in some areas. I think you should be fine to cover it up with a more pigmented dye. If you can get Directions, I think that would work really well, but even just more bottles of Crazy Colour would probably also be fine.

Yeah. Agree with @vivienne. Looks like you just need to get more color in there. You gotta coat every strand. I always buy more product than I think I’ll need. You don’t want the color literally dripping off your head. But, if I can see my hair through the semi-permanent color when it’s on, I add more. Also, make sure it’s clean and DOESNT have build up of product or natural oils and in most cases that it’s dry.
Make sure you leave it long enough. And rinse with cold water. No shampoo. You might apply a color sealing conditioner after you rinse. And rinse that out with cold water too. The sealer I personally love the most is from Ion. It’s the Ion Color Solutions Color Defense after color sealer with Chromaxtend. It’s always my last step in semi permanent color. If I’m doing a solid color, then I just apply it after rinsing, and checking through my hair to make sure I got every spot. I once used this and then realized I missed a spot in the back by the roots. I added color to that spot and it didn’t take because it already had the color sealer on it. I waited till I washed the next time, and added the color to that spot after i shampooed, let it process, rinsed, checked it. It was good, then I put the color sealer back in. ...... now that I think about it, this might be the PERFECT thing to keep color OFF of certain areas to prevent bleeding...hmmmm. If I’m doing multiple colors, I usually wait until I’ve gotten all of the separate colors in, before using this, if I am rinsing in between each color. Here’s a link to the sealer. You can buy it in a packet...but you seem to have more hair than one packet will cover. I have this size and it usually lasts me at least a year... Ion Color Defense After Color Sealer https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003TJC3JU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_smIyFbH31P87Z
Here’s a bigger bottle.. Ion Color Defense After-Color Sealer https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00784RLJ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jnIyFbGFS6KE4
I don’t actually use this very often. Just after I apply new color, since I tend to stick with a particular color job longer than most people, that’s not very often. But, I also use a very large amount when I use it. Bonus: it smells epic and adds that extra “Pantene hair commercial” smoothness and shine.
But, mostly, it just looks like you didn’t get ENOUGH color in your hair. Make sure you apply it in smaller sections to ensure you are really getting it in there. Hope this helps. It’s a really pretty purple color and your non purple strands look like they won’t have any problem with that same color.
I’d love to see an update.

Hey! So I ended up getting some electric blue! I’ve done that colour before and that was able to cover my blue and yellow hair when I had it! I haven’t a picture yet as I haven’t actually applied it but this should work! It did turn out that the dye just didn’t have enough pigment to cover the blonde I had - they recommended on the site that it should be at least a level 9 but mine was 8!

I got it!!! Just a more pigmented blue but I actually mixed it with the violette and I’m so happy!!!

I've used purple over red before and they canceled each other out, resulting in a greenish brown. I think I ended up doing a chocolate brown over, or try an ash brown.

The blue looks great.
