Going from black to bleached blonde. Colour remover turned hair green.by helpmedyePosted 1 month, 1 week ago
Hi, long story short, I bleached my hair. I then ended up dying it black. A week later I put Colourb4 colour remover on it as I didn't want to keep the black. It worked for the most part except when I conditioned it it turned green. Is there any way to get rid of the green? You can see some part of my hair where the blonde is coming through or completely showing. I was thinking maybe another box of the colour remover? I used it yesterday so ideally i'll wait a few days before reusing.I see red cancels out green but im trying to avoid using any more bleach atm. Thanks

If the black was a permanent black dye then would suggest a second application of a color remover. After using a color remover strongly recommend rinsing out the hair thoroughly twice ans washing the hair twice. This will help to ensure the reduced color molecules are removed from the hair.
Reduced color molecules remaining in the hair when bleach is applied will re-oxygenate and cause the color to come back. Bleach is an oxidation process. So important to make sure the reduced color molecules are removed from the hair by suggestion of rinsing the hair thoroughly twice and washing the hair twice.
If the black dye was a semi-permanent color like from Directions, Arctic Fox, Pravana, Joico, Splat, etc. Then would suggest after rinsing the hair twice and washing the hair twice to wait a week or two. And then apply bleach to lighten the green.
Many semi-permanent black dye brands myself have encountered are either green based or blue based dyes.
Any product used suggest a strand test of the product on a very small section of the hair.
These are my suggestions and opinions.

Thanks for this quite helpful. Thinking about it I probably should of rinsed the colour b4 out for longer, It was a semi permanent black. So do you think I shouldn't bother with a second box of colour remover, just wait the two weeks then bleach the hair?

You could try a strand test with the second round, but I usually find that it doesn't do much for me, so I'd probably try with bleach. To be honest, I'm not sure what would happen with the bleach, as it's quite likely what you've got now is really stubborn staining that's quite deep under the cuticle. That tends to be what's left over after colour remover. I'd just try a strand test first to make sure the bleach doesn't just make the green brighter.
