Bleached to pink- some advice please?by VspongePosted 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Hi all, So I'm planning on getting my hair pink if I can, however this novice would appreciate some advice. I bleach bathed my roots last night to an orange, I think its too dark to add an all over colour (very light ends already, will post photos) and I'm just weighing up my options as I've only ever dyed my hair silver, never another colour. Below are a few options I'm thinking of. I would love to know what you guys think will work, what won't work and what will be the best option.
- Use the live lightener/pink dye mix all over, roots first, but would be unnecessarily lightening my already blonde ends.
- Bleach bath roots again to lighten past orange, then use all over colour.
- Use a darker pink/magenta on the roots, blend in to a lighter pink on the ends. I like the sound of this option, but I'm not sure if the magenta will take?
- Use the lightener/dye mix on roots and a pastel on the ends, risking the colours won't match but not doing too much damage to light ends.
Thank you for your help :)

I think your roots would be able to take a magenta fine as long as you use a relatively pigmented dye. I personally like Directions Cerise or Rose Red for this purpose. You dilute it with conditioner for a lighter shade for your ends. I'd suggest diluting at least with equal parts conditioner even for the darker magenta if you use those specific shades, Since they are very pigmented and can run a lot.
If you'd rather do a lighter colour all over, you'd have to lighten your roots more, as mentioned, but I'd just target the roots only, and I'd also just use a normal bleach and use a semi-permanent pink (no developer required) afterwards.
