Two different colour blondes in hair and root regrowth. Not wanting to bleach as postpartum and worried about damage what are my options?by Katie-0910Posted 2 months, 1 week ago
Hi so I box dyed my hair as I have a small human and couldn’t get to the salon. It looks ok however the roots are darker than the bottom of my hair. I now have brownish root regrowth and due to lockdown I can’t go to the salon so wondering what my options were. I’m not a huge fan of the top colour I think it’s too orange but I know I can’t lift it lighter without bleach and I have no idea what I’m doing with bleach. Should I just dye my roots with the same colour I’ve used and use a toner to reduce some of the orange? It’s not ideal the top is darker than the bottom but I can live with it for a while. The reason I’m not sure about bleaching is my hair has only recently stopped falling out after birth and I also have a baby hanging off it most of the day so i don’t want to damage it too much. Thanks for any help I’ve attached a picture to show what I mean.

I think the simplest option would just be to cover the orange sections with a dye similar to your roots and blend it into your ends. Toner won't help that much for the orange band, and so you'd need extra lift with bleach if you wanted it lighter. Darkening it with a root stretch is probably the least damaging option that relatively easy to execute yourself at home.
