How to dilute pink dye to tone grey hair with green tint.Posted 1 year, 9 months ago
(yes yes, i know. I've made hundreds of posts about fixing grey hair and im sorry but i need advice asap.) I have Montibello Pink hair dye and i want you guys to tell me how i can dilute the pink so i can fix the green tint on my grey hair. Um, i noticed in the past that fashion dyes work when the hair is damp. Should i put a drop of that dye with lots of conditioner on dry hair before washing, or after washing with shampoo only? Im very confused. I want to successfully tone my hair.

I have no idea about the pink dye but bleach London do a baby pink shampoo and conditioner which is specifically for maintaining pink hair and getting rid of green tones in hair this worked for me however my hair was blue so I don’t know whether this is affected differently however I feel as though it helped

It looks like the pink is a direct dye, so all you need to do is dilute it in large amount of conditioner. You want the mixture to be a pastel colour. You should only need to use a very small amount of the tube. I'd highly recommend mixing up a small amount first and applying to a small section of hair that is not very visible first to test if the mixture is strong enough to tone out the green.
Also, while you can apply dye to damp hair, the best colour absorption will happen over dry hair that has been shampooed without any conditioner. Since you are trying to tone with a very diluted mixture with very little pigmented, I'd also recommend using a silicone-free conditioner if you have it on hand. I would specifically avoid heavy hair masks, as they tend to have a lot of silicones which can tend to block the colour absorption.
