Hello there. Im thinking dying my hair dark steel grey and currently i have faded purple hair and i was wondering if i could use Silver or Purple shampoo on faded purple hair to make it lighter. Will that work?

Silver shampoo doesn't really lighten hair any more than regular shampoo. It actually deposits a bit of lavender colour to tone natural warmth that's present in bleached hair, so it'd be a bit counterproductive to your goals. If you want to fade out your current colour, check out the Articles section for a variety of fading techniques and start with the gentlest ones (no bleach) and try to get as much colour out as possible.

At some point, you may end up needing bleach or something similar to take the last bit of colour out to get to the silver, but I wouldn't do that until you're sure you've washed out as much of the dye as possible, because purple has a tendency to go green when bleached.
