going back to blonde after grey?!by nerimaniPosted 6 months, 1 week ago
Hey! I’ve been blonde for about 3/4 months and, on impulse, decided to go silver. long story short it turned grey instead and in some places, almost a beige/green. i really wanna go back to blonde but have no clue how to go about it. i’ve seen about the B4 hair colour stripper but read reviews about it turning the hair brassy and damage... help!!!

Colour B4 works by essentially reversing the reaction between dye and peroxide from developer, which makes the colour molecules colourless and small enough to rinse out of your hair. However, if you don't rinse thoroughly enough, they do have the capacity to re-oxidize and the colour may come back. It doesn't really turn hair brassy on its own, but it reveals warmth that's left over from the pigments that weren't able to wash out. In other words, assuming you were able to fade the dye out without using colour remover, you'd probably still get the same level of brass and it would require bleach to remove.
Generally, I find it to be less harsh than bleach, so it's a good first step if you used a permanent dye. If your dye was semi-permanent (no mixing required), then you might get some good fading with clarifying shampoo or similar fading treatments (check out the articles section) that don't require any bleach. You probably won't get fully back to your original blonde, but it'll get you closer and you may be able to dye over it with something similar to what you had before.
