two toned hairby lelanelsPosted 6 months, 3 weeks ago
i had my hair split dyed, black and green. i decided i wanted to go back to my natural hair which is a level 5 golden brown. i didnt want to bleach the green side of my hair again so i just cancelled it out using a auburn hair dye which worked really well it was just an ashy light brown. however when i lifted the black out of my hair the dye lifted to a pink color. i ended up bleaching it twice over the span of two days. and then pink was still extremely vibrant. i tried canceling out the pink but it didnt not as well as i wanted it to. i decided to just go over it with a brown to see how that would look. theyre the same color yet a different tone. i would say my hair is about a level 6 maybe a 7. typically you see toners used on super blonde hair, do you think if i put a ash toner on top of the warm side it would tone it down enough for me to go ahead and put the level 5 brown on it?

It's a little tough to get a perfect match, but I'd just try strand testing with slightly ashier version of the level 5 you're going for. The toner my work as well, but I find them a little unpredictable when I put a second dye on top of them.
