Grey & Yellow Disaster. Please help!!!Posted 4 months, 1 week ago
Hi everyone!!!! Thank you so much for any help in advance. I apologize for the super long post and the stupidity lmfao
So I have been bleaching my hair to a level 9 or higher for several years, but in the past 2 I have been doing a very silver platinum, and as you can expect this has been the only time I’ve been stressed by it lmao. However, for about 6 months I let my roots grow out (~2 inches), which probably was not the smartest idea as my natural 7N bleached to a lovely bright yellow.
I did the same as I had before. Matrix’s Vlight bleach (purple bucket) with 20V developer and 1/16 Olaplex for about 30 mins then follow with Wella T18 & 20V. Even after the toner I was still primary yellow! I did a mask of Shimmering Lights purple shampoo on the roots for a few hours (in retrospect very excessive and dumb but I saw it work wonders for a tragedy on Youtube so thought why not lol :/) which finally rid me of intense primary yellows, but unfortunately it rinsed onto my white ends which of course grabbed to it like hell!!!
I have tried anti-dandruff shampoo, even a bit of Dawn lol and it still will not come out of my ends. There are some spots it clung to very purple :/. Honestly, the shade of my roots is very livable and I would really like having that all over (especially considering my clip ins blend with it) but it’s not like I can put a blonde dye of that shade on top of this severe ash (& purple spots lulz) so......
I was thinking maybe a bleach bath? Then after getting the purple out... is there a dye I could apply to match my ends to my roots? Would roots need to be bleached again and the another tone? It has been over a week since I bleached and with my Olaplex and deep conditioning treatments my hair does not feel or seem damaged at all, but I know that doesn’t necessarily mean the damage isn’t there. Honestly, I would prefer to dye my ends than bleach more. Obviously, I am not a professional lmao, my old stylist let me get the full Olaplex travel kit thru her. I literally cannot go to the salon so I have got to fix this myself :///// I promise I’m not touching anybody else’s hair, this nightmare with my own is enough lmao!!!! Thank you so much...
TL DR: Waited too long to do my roots. Got yellow roots. Toner made my ends way hella grey. What do?
PS Now that I’m looking at pics it is kinda green awesome L O L

Hello, the blue on the ends will end fading out, they would be even more damaged if you bleach bath them. I think the parts you bleached recently are probably a bit too yellow to match the ends, so you could consider doing something about it, but it looks tricky because some strands seem nice and grey-white and others you see the yellow, and it would be a pity to over-process your hair.

Thank you for taking a look.
Yes, I’m very stuck on what to do because my roots are tbh a nice shade and my white is still nice but obviously no color melt at all. Would it be possible to match a dye for my ends to my root shade?

In my experience, it's a lot harder to add yellow to a silver rather than lighten the yellow down and tone it. Blondes a really tricky to match on bleached hair.
I'd just let your ends fade through normal washing for a bit before proceeding. The contrast probably looks really stark to you, but anyone who doesn't care about hair probably barely registers it. If it's really a huge bother, you could do a shadow root with a darker grey, but that's going to be a hassle to keep up if you want to stay light.

Thank you everyone for the help. After washing out the toner, what dye would I use on white ends to add blonde color back into it? I do not want to be this light anymore. Will I have to re-bleach my roots and then ease my way back into a light blonde color with toner? I’m totally lost on what to do after washing the toner out
