My hair turned out too pink, how can I get it closer to the purple I want?
Posted 2 weeks, 2 days agoI know I post a lot, I'm sorry about that but since this is a new question, I didn't want it to get lost on my other post.
So, I dyed my hair with AF purple rain at the roots and faded it into AF violet dream. Its a beautiful color, but after much debate and about 3 weeks of mulling it over, I really really want it to be a true purple. Even more of a blue. I'm okay with dying it a darker purple to achieve this! But i definitely want it to be PURPLE. Right now it's basically pink. In certain lighting in my house it turns a blueish purple and I LOVE it.
So Is there any way to get a more blue toned purple? Can I just dye over this bright ass pink? Maybe with just a straight blue dye? Needs to be available in the USA. Arctic fox, manic panic, ion, and that brand that starts with a "j" are pretty readily available for me.
Pics of what I have and want below. Thanks in advance for any advice!!
Oh and say I am able to dye it closer to to what I want, what will the color fade to? I imagine still a pink since the pink is so prominent?

You just need to pop a turquoise over what you have now. Arctic Fox Aquamarine would work or Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise. I'd just avoid the Ion blues. They will work, but they are basically permanent and kind of impossible to remove.
The fade will depend on which dye you choose, but it'll probably eventually go down to pink.

Okay so I strand tested Arctic fox aquamarine over my purpley/pink tresses and it's basically just a rich blue, there's a slight purple tint to it but DAMN it's pretty! Not what I expected but it's even better. #win!! The blue must be really strong in the aquamarine but again, I love the result so idc
Will post pics once my hair is dyed and dried!

I love colors. For this reason is why I do my own at home, so many variables. The blue is bitchin, but if you wanted purple from here you would add a red. I would go w a bright red as opposed to a deep red but both would prolly make it go some kind of purple.

Beautiful blue on you in my opinion. Adding some red to the blue will make purple. Strongly suggest a strand test on a very small section of hair when adding any product to the hair for changing the color.
