Substitute for SFX Atomic Pinkby marthamillsPosted 6 months, 3 weeks ago
As the Atomic Pink drought goes on, my roots are in desperate need of dyeing! It's been YEARS since I've used anything other than SFX, and even then I had only used Crazy Color. Does anyone have any recommendations for a substitute that comes anywhere near to Atomic Pink that I can use in the mean time? I have a couple of old bottles with tiny amounts in that I'm thinking I'd mix with whatever dye I'd use to try and get a bit of the AP longevity into it.
Many thanks, Heather

I don't know of anything that's exactly the same tone, but I like Directions Cerise and Rose Red. They aren't quite as neon, but they are very pigmented and last well.

I've found Directions Cerise with just a dash of Rubine to be a pretty good substitute. It doesn't give that same neon 'glow' as Atomic Pink and doesn't last quite as long, but I find if I leave the dye to sit for a good 3 hours or so before washing it out then it does pretty well.
