Orange yellow patchy blonde, trying to fix this. Need advice of which color to goby LexisboldPosted 9 months, 1 week ago
So back in April I used a permanent box dye twice dying my hair “intense red” I’ve been trying to get my hair red for a long time but it wasn’t until April that I put any dye on it. Then more recently maybe a month ago I lightened my hair with AgeBeautiful Creme lightener with a 30 volume developer. I did this once myself then had my boyfriend help me for the second time. It came out patchy because my mid section of my hair will not lighten for the life of me.
Yesterday I went to the salon and they used a color remover where I sat under heat for 20 minutes. That did barely anything and they did a bleach bath twice and it turned out like how the pictures look. The hairdresser said my hair is very stubborn she said that I could put my bright “rock n roll red” from manic panic over it and it would still be bright and look how I want. At this point I’m not sure if that’s true I’m afraid the red would look patchy too. What can I do to fix this mess? What semi-permanent colors could I dye over this considering the color it is now? I thought maybe a purple? But I don’t want to do anything without advice. I just want an even color at this point it doesn’t matter what it is. Would bleaching the midsections ruin my hair? It still feels healthy not damaged at all.

You definitely have a few different shades to your hair and those differences will show up if you go over it with a semi, but I think it will look intentional. You'll get some dimensionality in your hair, but with the placement I can see, I think it'll just look like you've got highlights with brighter and darker reds.
I'd personally avoid purple, as you have quite a lot of orange in your base, which will likely go a bit muddy. Red is a relatively forgiving shade, so if that's what you've wanted to begin with, I'd go for it.

Thank you! I’m glad to hear that I can go along with my original plan, the only thing I’m worried about now is how I will go about removing color once I want to change colors.

Hey I just signed up to this hair site?but you can definitely put the red in your hair like that. If you want it more bright in a few days-weeks you can bleach it again. But don’t overdo it with the bleach. I had pink hair and bleached it a couple times with the pink semi in it. I was trying to get to white but i got a super pale pink. It was ok tho because now I have rainbow hair. I also noticed that chlorinated Pool water fades! my adore hair color the most compared to a bleach bath(lighten only don’t use it to fade color, it will cause more damage) . I can’t put more bleach in my hair after bleaching it about 6 times or else it’ll break off. I actually have a semi in rn, in the back photo. I had purple and that’s how much it faded with the pool and sea water. On the left side pic I have adore ruby red and that’s how the red looks.
