Purple hair disasterby MjoannPosted 1 year, 1 month ago
Here's my hair disaster. I dye my hair dark purple with box dye, not to often, maybe once or twice a year, but for the most part my hair is light brown after all the fading and what not in between dyes. I had a bright idea to try going pink. Bought Wella pink hair color, slapped that on my head without lightening thinking it would give me a pink hue but nothing happened. Not surprising. I then bleached my hair twice, which turned out fairly well and didnt seem to damage my hair to much, also I toned it. Bought Wella again, and nothing. So the next day I tried Arctic fox and ended up with pinkish roots, and pinkish yellow/orange ends. Then I brilliantly thought, hey I'll buy a bright Splat brand purple and that should cover this mistake and I'll be good. No. I now have splotchy purple and pink hair and it terrible. I know I'm an idiot. My question is, can I fix this and even out the blotchy color by covering it with a dark purple hair color or even a dark chocolate brown? My hair is still soft and fairly healthy.

The Splat purple is not particularly strong and tends to fade really quickly, and Virgin Pink is a bit better, but still not great. If you still want to try pink, I think a strongly pigmented pink like Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink will work. If you prefer a dark purple, I personally like Punky Plum. Of course, brown will work as well, but I'd still suggest using something semi-permanent just so you don't accumulate more damage.
If you do use a semi-permanent dye (one that you don't mix with developer), just be sure to apply it to dry, clean hair and leave it in for at least an hour for better absorption.

In my humble opinion based on over three decades of non-professional experience never had good results with Wella brand or Splat brand.
Suggest a dark purple like Directions Plum or Directions Violet. A dark chocolate brown would also cover the current color. Your hair and your choice.
This is my suggestion and humble opinions.
