Bleached roots not taking dye aswellby Jen_woolyPosted 1 year, 8 months ago
So I've been bleaching and colouring hair for a few years now, the last time I done my roots the freshly bleached roots didn't take to the dye aswell. Ended up with it fading really quickly on freshly bleached area and staying well on the old bleached hair. This is the first time it has happened to me, I've read up about doing a peroxide soak to soften hair a little more. All i've tried so far is clarifying shampoo and it's been over a month since the bleach, so re dyed and still fading quickly, any tips?

Have you tried applying to freshly shampooed, blow dried hair and applying heat as it's processing? I'd try more basic strategies before peroxide, since it's not the greatest for your hair or scalp.
If you're diluting your dye, have you tried using shampoo instead of conditioner?
For a peroxide soak, I generally prefer using a thicker cream developer as it stays in the area better. How long you leave it varies from person to person, so I'd do a few experimental strand tests to see if it makes a difference. I'd start with 10 minutes and go up from there.

No I haven't tried using heat while processing, will give it a go next time I colour and see the results, thanks for the reply
