Light enough for gray?by LoriPPosted 3 months ago
I posted a few days ago about getting rid of manic panic infra red. I had cut my hair off 3 years ago to go gray. I loved my silver but got bored and thought I'd do something temporary that turned out not so temporary so.... The red had stained and none of the laundry list of fading treatments was getting it out and at some point the vitamin c I used was old and oxidized and stained it even worse, even my new growth. Everything was a muddy copper mess. . I realized I wasn't going to get back to my salt and pepper gray. So my choice was to bleach or else dye. I chose bleach. I refuse to cut it back off and start all over so I'll grow this out but I've been the route of trying to blend dye and no matter what I do the dye tones are always much warmer than my regrowth. This time I know my roots will come in silver and dark ash salt and pepper and I can keep throwing on direct dye silvers on the ends to blend and keep trimming until its gone and not go down this road again.
Here's photos of after bleaching and where I'm trying to get back to.
It had to be toned with various concoctions and strengths of silver stiletto, blue steel and conditioner as there is still some remaining peachy staining in the mid shaft.
Am i light enough to get to some silvers and grays? I thought of doing some dark roots with raven but I'm scared to death of green fade so unless someone has some ideas for that I'll just wait on natural roots
