Looking for sunset pinks and purplesby Seadith136Posted 1 year, 4 months ago
Hello! My hair is currently a bleached level eight with yellow tones. I'm wanting to do a sunset-inspired ombre, however, I don't want to buy two many dyes and my hair is a bit dark for some of the vivids. I'm currently looking for a purple that will fade to pink (and hopefully will even fade out all the way), and an orange toned pink where the oranges will fade out. From the research I've done so far, I think my top contenders are manic panic's purple haze, and an EXTREMELY diluted version of Arctic Fox's Electric Paradise. I'm roughly going for the attached picture, and my hope is that between the two colors I have, I can mix and dilute to get the various shades (although I know the fuchsia in the middle might not be as vivid.) If anyone has any experience with these colors, or other dyes that fit these specifications, your input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The photo didn't attach, but you can link to it another post so we can see what you're going for.
I'm not a huge fan of Purple Haze, because it can look quite dull, especially if you don't have an ideal base, which may not work well for a sunset look. I think Deep Purple Dream works better, but it's more likely to stain your hair pink as well.
In my experience, most coral dyes fade down to orange rather than pink unless you have a particularly light base.
If it's a cost issue and you're in the US, I think you might have more luck getting three different colours from Adore rather than one Arctic Fox and Manic Panic. That way you can have more flexibility with mixing and placement. If you'd just rather not have so many dyes lying around, I think you might consider getter a more cool-toned pink and a yellow or orange to achieve a similar effect, as I think that combo is generally more forgiving.

Adore's Violet Gem is another that you might like to consider.
Having recently dyed my hair kind of sunset colours (https://www.haircrazy.com/timelines/Jude/76982/), I would say, use something more orange than you think you need. Your pinkish-purple is going to bleed into an orange-pink and make it pinker. If it was my hair I would probably go for an orange instead of pink and blend it into the pinkish purple. That plan won't work if you end up using a violet purple, so keep that in mind. For a level 8, you'll need quite a strong orange for any orange tones to show up. I have a few strands that are level 8 and it can be difficult to get more subtle orange colours to show up. I used Adore Sunset Orange. It washes out really easily on my hair, so should be simple to fade out.
