I bleached a “virgin” wig the other day from a level 2 and only got it to a very dark copper after about 40 minutes. When I was rinsing and shampooing out the bleach there was a lot of a reddish color coming out which made me think the wig was previously dyed even though it was supposed to be virgin hair. If I used a color remover on it now that I have bleached it would it do anything? I’m not going to bleach again because it is not a high quality wig. The hair feels fine after the lightening but I don’t want to risk the hair coming out of the wig.
I wouldn't personally use colour remover on a wig, because you really need to agitate the hair and almost scrub it to try and get the colour molecules out before it re-oxidizes. I feel like there's a lot of risk of the colour coming out patchy or ripping hairs out of the wig.
I didn’t even think about how harshly I have to shampoo the hair. Thanks @vivienne !
