I've been dyeing my hair with Joico Color intensity dyes at home with no trouble for a couple of years, sticking to purple and red shades that fade to a very nice pink (I mix different shades together, add white conditioner etc).
Last year I had a go at green and blue, which looked fantastic for the first two washes but has since faded quite poorly (I used Joico and Manic Panic). I'm using a gradual colour fader each time I was but it's not having much effect and I'm afraid of bleaching my already over bleached hair. Is there any way a dark red or purple will cover this? I have to attend a wedding next month so it's become urgent.
Hi! I’ve had blue/green hair twice. Ion color remover pulled a lot of the green out after bleaching, (I did this process backwards, I know), then I dyed over it with Manic Panic Vampire Red on one occasion and Purple Haze the other time. Both completely covered the green! I would recommend Purple Haze, my hair was actually a nice blonde when it eventually washed out! Hope this helps!
Coconut oil will save the universe.
most purples will cover blue or green pretty well i would not do red unless you fade to an extremely pastel green, however a pigmented magenta will work but make a more purple pink i would fade a bit longer and do strand tests
I think a darker red will go burgundy over the brighter green areas and purple over the blue bit, so it won't be super even, but it shouldn't look totally odd. Purple will be a safer bet, but I think either would be okay.
Thanks everyone, I'm going to try purple and magenta over next week. I'll post the results!
https://www.haircrazy.com/articles/misc-articles/katies-direct-dye-fading-treatment/ I understand your concern about putting bleach on top of bleached hair but she has some really great ways of removing semis and her actual method (at the bottom) worked really well for me if you still wish to have blonde hair. But the purple and magenta sounds pretty!
Hi all, I used Joico Color intensity in Magenta and Violet over it and it worked well! I'm not too sure how to add images to replies (?) but there were only a couple spots that came out noticeably different from the rest. The magenta came out closer to purple than it usually does but since I'm trying to look presentable for a wedding that's absolutely fine lol
Glad it worked out!
I put some pics on Imgur :)
