Just can't get the yellow tones out of my bleached and toned blonde hairby MrspejeraPosted 1 year, 4 months ago
it all started when I went back to the salon I have always been going to and decided to have my hair dyed blond and set of rehighlighting it over and over again. I was left with a brassy orange mess and went back two more times to get toners but in the end it was still blond on bottom and golden at the roots. I went to Sally's and got the stuff to go ahead and bleach my hair again after it seemed like it was strong enough. I also got the palest ash toner they had. I am using the matrix so silver shampoo twice a week. I can tell that a lot of my hair is the color I want but there is still so much yellow in it and I don't know what to do if going back over with bleach and toners is not working. I have used the so silver shampoo for about 2 weeks and was using the buniq before that. I do not dislike my hair overall but it's just not what I'm going for. It looks pretty good overall when it's down but the yellow at the roots is a lot more noticeable when it's in a ponytail.

you could go 2 different routes : - darken your roots with a level 7 demi-permanent dye (neutral or ash/violet), so it will cover the yellow/orange (root stretch) - lighten the yellow/orange pieces without touching the rest : you can use cream bleach with a low level developper (6 or 10 volume) and if you can add a bond builder or bond-protector it's even better, and thereafter tone with a violet toner; a level 9 or 10 permanent color (ash/violet tone) with 20 volume could also help lifting and neutralizing the yellow/orange. I've tried the two last methods on my lengths & ends, and I've found the bleach + low developper+bondbuilder to be gentler on the hair, better to go slow. good luck! ps : your hair does look beautiful and shiny

The current color looks pretty.
Toners only work on hair as light as the inside of a banana peel such as removing any remaining yellow. Orange hair will not ton and the only option is to lighten with bleach of 20 or 30 volume, or go darker with a dye.
Suggest give the hair a rest and a break for about two to three weeks. Then also have more time to formulate a plan and get more helpful suggestions.
This is my opinion and suggestions.

Thank you I really do like the matrix color repair line and twice a week I put avocado oil on my hair so considering how much it is gone through with the toning and the bleaching it looks pretty good lol. What makes me so mad is I paid $125 at the salon for a color touch-up and ended up having to go through all this and I went back three times and they did toning treatments that did not help and I don't want to go back again and have my hair get destroyed
