How do I do this color on purpose?

Ok.. So I dyed my daughter's hair. Bleached it first, from almost black, down to a pale orange. Then we put on Pravana Vivids blue. It didn't last very long (she got in the pool a LOT). What it faded to was a light caramel color that looks REALLY good on her. Now her roots are starting to show (again, almost black... it's like the darkest brown possible). So I want to recreate the caramel color on purpose.. What would you suggest??

bleach the hair to the same level on the roots and then tone it with diluted with condtitioner blue, if the blue is pastel it won't make the hair blue, just take away the orange, the best way to recreate the color is to get as close to the original process as possible
