So I used a 20 developer on my roots, I had about an inch of regrowth .. dark brown. (I learned my lesson with the developer) my hair is silver. I like it! But I’m not sure what I should do about my roots because I HATE them. They look warmer than the rest of my hair. I don’t want to bleach again. I thought about conditioner, a little bit of 10oz developer and wella 050 and maybe apply to my roots. My other option is just to go get shadow roots but I would prefer my whole hair be silver. Will this color on my roots fade? Should I wait it out? Any advice is appreciated :) thanks!
If you apply an ashy toner to the roots it should look fine. I missed once my daughter's roots, and corrected is next time I did her roots (bleach with lower developper applied once I had did her natural roots); came out fine. I you don't want to wait that long you can re-bleach with lower developper, or use high-lift tint with 10, 15 20 volume, and not leave it too long.
You won't be able to tone that away unfortunately; you'll need to lighten the roots. The most effective way to lighten is with bleach. It won't take long, so I'd advise doing it in stages because by the time you finish applying the bleach, the area you started with will probably be light enough.
You can try a high lift blonde on the roots too. Blonde dyes usually lift up to about 3 levels (some claim 5 but I've never seen that kind of lift), and can tone at the same time. I would avoid Wella on the roots because it will only lighten about 1 level and you need to lighten 2-3 levels going by the second picture. Whichever you decide to use, be sure to apply it to the darkest areas first and do it before your regrowth comes in or you'll end up with hot roots again on the regrowth.
