Help with red dyeby xkazafPosted 1 year, 1 month ago
So currently I am looking to dye my nearly white ends to red. I plan to do black for most of my hair with red ends, thinking more around a blood red color preferably.
Normally I dye my hair by mixing dye with conditioner as I was told that's the best way. I know this can change the color as well as bring out more color, so what red dye would you recommend that'd work this way to get the color I want?
Also please only recommend dyes that do not bleed. If it's from washing my hair that's fine but I don't wanna touch my hair and get red everywhere, or have it come off when sweating, or on my clothes. I heard Adore has little to no bleeding when it came to this.
Thank you very much.
Also, I'm not concerned if my hair is a little redder than blood red. I just don't want to end up with pink or orange hair.

If your ends are really near white, you may need to do a couple of coats (dye, rinse, dry, repeat), as most reds tend to have a pink or orange base that will come out with such a light base. The second layer should deepen the tone and give you a true red.
In terms of bleeding, I do think Adore reds are great in this regard, but they will probably come out looking very pink. Truly Red is the only one with a warmer base, but it's not as deep as something like Intense Red, which is very pink-toned. You could mix the two, but personally, I think I'd go for something like Manic Panic Vampire Red and do two rounds of dyeing with the colour diluted in conditioner. This should help with any rub-off.
