Hi, I'm new so excuse any formatting issues :p I bleached my naturally dark brown hair at home and it turned orange/copper in places, as expected. I know the recommended developer for Wella T14 toner is a 20 volume developer, however, I'm concerned it might lift my hair even more, which I definitely do not want. So should I use 20 volume or will 10 volume work just as well?
If there is orange or copper then T14 isn't really a great choice. It might neutralise it a little to a browner shade, but it won't go anything like silver unfortunately. You'll need to lighten much further if your goal is silver.
If you're just trying to tone down the orange, then I would do a strand test and just use 10 volume. 10 is ok for depositing colour and won't lift in any noticeable way. There are better colours for neutralising brassiness though. A light ash brown or dark ash blonde would probably work better.
