My hair is currently purple but I'm wanting to go darkish green. Any advice on how to do this with the least damage?
fade out the purple til its pastel, if its a cool purple its super easy to put green over, if the purple fades to pink then you can do a turquoise blue and when that fades then do green
Thanks. I need to bleach my roots tho so would it be alot lighter even if the dye is dark?
If your roots are a different base than your ends, it will turn out a different colour when you dye over it, but how noticeable it is depends on the shade difference. Since you may have some leftover pink or blue on your ends, you may want to go with more of a warm green over those bits, because they'll be more cool-toned compared to your bleached roots.
Thing is the purple is permanent, it's got lighter but it won't go completely. I was contemplating doing a bleach bath but I don't know if that'll work
Did you use an actual permanent dye, as in one you have to mix with developer? If so, the first step should be a colour remover like Colour B4 or Color Oops , which work a bit better than bleach on those colours and don't do the same type of permanent damage. Permanent purples tend to have a reddish base, so you may have some leftover orange or burgundy, which may be harder to get a nice green over. If you can get to a gold shade with colour remover + potential bleach, it would work better. I'd try a strand test before committing to that route though, as it's a much more unpredictable situation. Just be sure not to bleach straight after the colour remover, as the peroxide can cause the colour to re-oxidize and darken again.
Ye it was live hair dye one of the XXL dyes. It's faded quite a bit now. I'm hoping to achieve a dark green when I mix colours
Hey, tell me how it goes, coz I also want dark green hair, but since my hair is dark brown I'll have to bleach it, and the color washes away pretty fast from bleached hair from what I've seen...
I've had green before but it wasn't dark. It faded pretty evenly.
