How do I successfully get blue/aqua hair? -please help-by whoskim12Posted 2 years, 1 month ago
Hola everyone, so, I’m in a bit of a pickle. About a month ago i bleached my hair to a brown brassy shade and dyed it with Colorista in teal, and I got this dark green color that i loved. As expected, it faded to a gross muddy green that’s super unflattering. I really want to get a more vibrant teal or purple color this time (whichever one is easiest to achieve), but I have no idea how to successfully do that. I’m fine with bleaching it a second time if I have to. Your opinions and tips are highly appreciated <3 Note- the first picture is my current hair color

From the first picture, it seems like your base color is too dark/too brown to achieve the colors in the example pictures, so you would have to bleach it again. However, in both of the example photos, the color was most likely applied on an ombre/balayage type of base. That's why close to the roots the hair has a darker and muddier shade of the same color and the tips are very vibrant in comparison. My guess is that, also for those models, the darker parts would fade to a muddy unflattering look after a few washes. If you want your hair to fade to a pretty, lighter shade of your color, your best bet is to bleach your hair to the level of the tips in the example photos, which I'd say should at least be a level 8 or 9.

Ah okay, will the bleach get out the remaining green and make it more blonde? I just wanna make sure before I fry my hair lmao

Bleach is a damaging way to get dye out of your hair and their is no guarantee it will get the dye out. Look up the articles section for different ways to fade hair and try other options first.
