So I'm about to change my hair from dark brown to ginger. I'm aware I need to raise the level. However my roots are about 1" of natural blonde hair. After I've lifted the dark brown to desired level will the ginger/copper go over my roots and bleached dark brown without being too different?? I don't want to bleach my roots for the fact that will make them go almost platinum vs the lifted dark brown. I hope this all makes sense.

hi, i think that you can start with a color remover, ( color before one and only colorfix) and get that dark dye out first, then what ginger do you want? if its a more natural shade of red, going to sallys if you have it in your area and choosing a red you like with a permanant dye is going to be a really easy solution since the old box dye will lift to orange shade anyway then you can just color it all with the dye of your choice, or color remove bleach bath the roots with low volume and put a semi over everything, but the first step is removeing the old color and you don't need to do that with bleach...

Oh really?? No bleaching?? It's professional colour I have. ideally I try to avoid bleach as much as possible so if I can just colour remove it I'll get happy. I'm wanting a natural ginger, nothing neon lol.

yep you may have to do a couple rounds, but color remover will actually leave you at an orangy stage anyway then its just a matter of sort of toning to the ginger you want! as long as the brown is previous color it should come out and be very warm orange right off the bat

Yeah the dark brown is a fade from black. My natural colour is long gone lol.
