I need help with my pink hairby SLTPT2Posted 4 years, 3 months ago
Got my hair done at the salon today. I wanted a dusty/icy rose gold but I ended up with hot pink. What can I do at home to lighted it?

Hi there @by SLTPT2 :)
Do you remember what kind of dye the hairdresser used on your hair? Was it a semi-permanent or permanent dye? Assuming it was a semi-permanent dye, you could start by washing your hair with just warm water and your regular shampoo to see if that makes a difference. I'd try more effective fading methods (like dandruff/clarifying shampoo soaks) only after seeing how effective the regular shampoo wash is, because on the other hand you probably don't want to fade the colour too much either.
Also if you end up with a light cotton candy pastel pink after fading the colour, you can try putting a light, semi-permanent silver dye over it to make it more icy/dusty. Always do a strand test first though :)
For maintaining the colour after you've managed to fade it enough, here's Jude's recipe for a homemade dusty pink: https://www.haircrazy.com/articles/blog/hair-colour-recipe-dusky-pink/

it will fade with shampooing if you want it to fade quicker, soak it in dandruff shampoo for 20 mins, that will pull out a lot of excess dye

i would fade with shampoo and add a purple shampoo I don't think they got your base light enough to do a light dusty pink so purple shampoo will neutralize the pink you have as it fades
