A few porous patches not taking, can I fix it?by LiseBrownPosted 3 years ago
I have been having trouble getting a few areas in the midlengths of my hair to hold colour. I am naturally mousey, and I had it bleached for the first time a couple of months ago, and roots touched up recently. I thought at first the mid lengths were not holding colour due to not being evenly bleached, but I had it all evened out at my recent root touch up and the colour is still not holding, or barely even taking. I think it must be that my hair is too porous in areas? The ends of my hair are ok, and the top of my hair takes amazingly. Is there anything I can do o fix it? Its really getting me down :(

I do not know much about porosity except for soils, but will offer suggestions. I am a scientist by trade and soils can really dig....lol. If all the other factors are the same and color holds in some areas and not in others then maybe that area the cuticles on the hair are too open and will not hold onto color. Kind of like hanging up a coat on a wall without a hook. Also wonder if the hair tangles more easily in the area that does not hold color. If the hair tangles easily then definitely the hair in that area is too open or cuticles too open. To help close the cuticles on the hair shaft strongly suggest washing and rinsing with cold to very cold water. Cold water helps to close the cuticle and keep color while hot water helps to open the cuticle and remove color. These are my suggestions.

Thanks for your reply! I'm trying to think if it does tangle more there....My hair is long so it does tangle sometimes....I think maybe it might...
