Silver Hair Helpby rllsebcPosted 2 years, 10 months ago
I had dark brown hair and bleached and toned it with wella T14 and wella T18. I then put pravana silver on my hair with a 1:1 ratio between product and conditioner. My hair came out very mixed between purple, silver and blonde. I need help deciding my next step to get the overall silver effect. Do I need to rebleach my hair or do I need to apply more pravana? I'm a little lost and hoping bleach isn't the answer. Thank you!!

Can you add a photo of what you have now, preferably outdoors or by a window? Instructions for adding photos are under Site Stuff.
You'll probably need to lift the blonde sections a bit more in order to get them to tone properly. I'd try a non-damaging toner this time around. You can make your own with a diluted Violet dye or just apply purple shampoo on dry, unconditioned hair for a few hours. The purple bits were probably the lightest sections and should fade down to a more neutral white/silver with a few washes.

For silver hair the base hair color before dying needs to be the same as the inside of a banana peel in color. Otherwise the dye you apply, I am a poet and know it, will fight to mask or hide the remaining yellow in the hair and not contribute to forming silver on the hair, so a person could/would get mixed results. Suggest next time begin with a base hair color the same as the inside of a banana peel in color or white.
Pravana Silver, Sparks Silver, and ION Titanium are silvers requiring a lot of conditioner and a very small amount of silver dye to create silver hair, which would also suggest.
This is my humble opinion.
