Darkening/touching up silver hair?by LunaBonitaPosted 3 years, 5 months ago
I had faded pink hair and after an unsuccessful bleach bath and some fuckery with some leftover blue and purple dyes I managed to get my hair to a silvery color. Its more of blue toned silver I think, in some lighting it almost looks like a very faded teal, but still definitely silver.
Now overall I like it and all, but it's a bit too light and ideally I'd like to get a slightly darker color, either the whole thing or an ombre from a dark grey to the same color at the tips, and I'm going need to touch up the color at some point too anyway.
I ordered pravana silver a while ago and it finally arrived, so I figured I'd use that. But of course as has been mentioned here countless times the results you get with silver heavily depend on the base color, and since a lot of people say it tends to lean blue I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and use the pravana dye diluted or if there's an extra step I'd need to take to make sure it's still silver when I touch it up. I've got some leftover pink and purple, maybe those could help somehow? Or will putting silver dye over silver just make it stay silver?

I would get a midnight/navy blue & dilute with condt. 2" of the dark blue with about 5oz of white conditioner gave me a grey/silver about 1/2 as dark as the pic on the right. Another 2" of dark blue to 5oz.condt should do it nicely.

Would this work with pravana silver too? I was mostly concerned about it turning blue instead of silver(since others have complained about it doing that sometimes over white and my hair is already a slightly blue leaning silver) I still want it to be a grey/silver color, my new job is ok with silver but blue not so much. And which midnight blue would work if that's a better option? I can get directions, manic panic and maybe crazy color but anything else I'd need to order online if those aren't the best for something like this.
