getting rid of peachy residue from permanent red dye??by knifecrimePosted 3 years, 6 months ago
in mid october i used permanent red box dye to get red hair. a week or so ago i put some navy blue semi permanent color over top of it. yesterday, i used 40 vol bleach from manic panic and now my hair is a peachy blonde (and also it is hardly damaged! this bleach has never hurt my hair too badly). i dont want to bleach again, are there any known tips for removing this residue? id like to get it to a light blonde asap. my natural hair is very short, i wear extensions and i just got a new set.

If the haor was dyed with a permanent color then would suggest a color remover and rinsed out thoroughly at least twice. Since you tried bleaching and left a pinkish cast not sure what next to suggest. Suggest wait two to three weeks and take very good care of the hair in the mean time. One option after two weeks is to bleach again to lighten the pink further. Red is one of the hardest colors to fully remove because it lasts. Another option is to create a pastel green semi-permanent hair dye. In a bowl place more than enough conditioner to cover all the hair then add a fingernail amount of green semi-permanent dye and mix together very well till achieve a light green shade. The test the light green mixture on a very small section of pinkish hair as a strand test. Add more dye or more conditioner as needed. Red and green are opposite on the color wheel, so this might or might not work.
These are my suggestions and opinion.
