I bleached my roots just now, like I would any other time. However, somehow CHUNKS of hair didn't get bleached at all, even though I did apply systematically through whole head. There's also bit of brassyness here and there, but the main issue are the random spots that I supposedly missed to bleach. I might miss a spot or two in the back of my head but this is directly where I can see & usually hair lifts clean and wholly. It might be just me making mistakes but it seems highly unlikely to miss so many (obvious) spots when I usually miss none :/
This raises questions wether: 1) Coconut oil solidified on my head so much on certain places and somehow prevented bleaching? My apartment is 18-20° celsius. 2) My bleach mixture dried out (because of solidified coconut oil? Or?) 3) I made a mistake by not buying the developer that goes with my bleach powder (BlondMe)? Though there's a topic on this here and people seem to use random developer with proper bleach all the time with no problem. 4) I mixed the foreign developer and bleach wrong? Is this possible? The developer doesn't go with the powder and it mixed unevenly or wrong ratio?
Oh trying to maintain this haircolor has taken a toll on psyche I'd be interested to hear if something like this has happened to someone else too. Please share if you think you know what went wrong :D Thank you.
The developer is probably not the issue, since you managed to get lightening elsewhere on your roots. I'm pretty sure it's the coconut oil not being evenly mixed, so you may have had some blobs where your roots didn't get direct contact with the bleach. It's actually pretty hard to make sure it's mixed in evenly unless you have a hand blender or a whisk, which would, of course, just froth up the bleach.
I think it's the bleach since the same thing happened to me with that bleach and developer. Maybe it becomes old and weaker once it is opened.
